Zizheng Wu was born in Anqing, Anhui Province, China. He grew up in Shanghai and attended School of Physics and Technology at Wuhan University in 2019. He joined Prof. Xudong Xiao's laboratory in 2020 to conduct research on perovskite solar cells. In 2021, he studied at University of California, Berkeley as an exchange student and worked with Prof. Grigory Tikhomirov on the design of a photon detector. After he came back to Wuhan University, he joined Prof. Sheng Wang's laboratory to conduct research on carbon nanotubes. In the summer of 2022, he joined the SUN Lab of the School of Science at Westlake University as a visiting student.
